It's time to start your self practice!

I would encourage everyone to practice at home as well as with a teacher.

It can be daunting or difficult to motivate yourself. Not quite sure what postures to do or how to flow them…Well the truth is, it doesn’t really matter. As long as you don’t start by doing some crazy gymnastics, when your body’s not warm and ready! And the most important thing with finding a home practice is learning to listen to the signs that your body is communicating to you.

If your lower back twinges or shoulder doesn’t quite ‘feel right’ then just stop what you are doing! Have a shuffle around, try again or leave it for today.

If you have been practicing a little while or are new, but you know the Sun Salutations then here is your starting point.

You can simply start your home practice with 3-5 Sun Salutations. Now THAT’s achievable! Even with kids or babies running around..

If you have more time, or feel motivated, add a lunge in there and a Warrior 2! And boom, your first flow!

I encourage this because it will help not only your progress towards a more mobile and healthy body, but it will also bring in daily breathwork, which is the most important aspect of yoga.

Again, this doesn’t have to be Ujjayi breath, simple awareness on your breath in each posture is a great practice to begin with.

As the holidays approach, can you spare 5-10 minutes in your day at least 3 times a week to look after your body and mind?

Alternatively, you can always follow a video online. There are tons of them out there, including some on my Youtube Chanel to suit different days/moods.
